Product DescriptionBelow is the detailed description of the product:
Original US Army Iowa Army National Guard Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) pin featuring the Iowa state motto, “Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain,” surrounding a detailed enamel American bald eagle with red, white, and blue shield on its breast. This distinctive insignia is hallmarkedM-37, N.S. Meyer Inc.on the reverse and uses a clutch-back fastener.
The Iowa Army National Guard traces its lineage back to the early state militia units formed in the mid-19th century, serving in the Civil War, Spanish–American War, and both World Wars. During WW2, Iowa Guard units were federalized and deployed across the European and Pacific Theaters. Throughout the Cold War, the Iowa Guard played a key role in domestic readiness and support, and its members have deployed extensively in support of operations during the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
A fine example for collectors of US National Guard insignia, state mottos, and post-WW2 to modern military heraldry.
