High quality Japanese made Ka-Bars, Carbine bayonets, and jet pilot fighting knives were offered at base PXs in the States and the Far East in the 1960s, and were also procured for US Army Special Forces and indigenous Vietnamese troopers operating across the border in Cambodia and Laos. Those edged weapons carried no official US government markings, allowing for complete deniability. This US Army USMC Marine Vietnam JAPANESE MADE PX KA-BAR FIGHTING KNIFE is in very good condition, with some light rounding to the blade tip, some sharpening to the blade edge, some light scratching, finish abrading, pitting, spot patina, and poor machining at each side of the blade, the pommel having been affixed at a bit of a downward angle, and with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 7" clip point fullered bowie blade with a top false edge that retains approximately 87% of the original blued finish, sports the classic stacked leather washer "tootsie roll" handle, and is stamped at the ricasso with its maker, "<ROSCO> / JAPAN". It boasts a thin steel guard and a pinned steel pommel, and is complete with the original US Vietnam Japanese Made PX Black Leather Scabbard in very good condition, with some wrinkling and bending to the end tip, a small tear in the front right end tip, a small edge nick in the front left end tip, a small surface crack in the edge of the upper right front belt hanger, some whitish paint spotting at the back belt hanger, and with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it bears a fully functional metal "glove" snap closure leather handle retention strap, carries the traditional metal rivets and yellowish cotton stitching down the sides, and exhibits a tie down hole through the end tip and an integral folded over and riveted leather belt hanger.
