USS Cochrane joined cruiser-destroyer force, United StatesPacific Fleet in March 1964, and became the flagship of Destroyer Division TwoFifty Two. Presently a member of Destroyers Thirty Three and the Naval Surface Force, Pacific, Cochrane returnedto Pearl Harbor Hawaii on 16 May 1975 after completing her seventh deploymentto the western Pacific.

USS Cochrane (DDG-21), named for Vice Admiral Edward L.Cochrane, USN, was a Charles F. Adams-class guided missile armed destroyer. TheCochrane was laid down by the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company atSeattle, Washington on 31 July 1961, launched on 18 July 1962 and commissionedon 21 March 1964.

In April 1975 Cochrane participated in Operation FrequentWind, the evacuation of Saigon, Vietnam.
