0.793\" x 0.793\" x 0.744\"
The cufflinks appear to be gold-toned or possibly gold-plated, which suggests they were made with some attention to quality. The use of gold plating or similar finishes is common in commemorative or souvenir items, especially those linked to military or diplomatic services.
These cuff links have the image of the United Nations (U.N.) as the center piece.Panmunjom, also known as Panmunjeom, now located in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea or Kaesong, North Hwanghae Province, North Korea, was a village just north of the de facto border between North and South Korea, where the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement that paused the Korean War was signed. This area is well-known for being a location where armistice talks were held during the Korean War in 1953 and is also notable as the place where many important diplomatic meetings have occurred between the two Koreas and the United Nations. The symbol on the cufflinks is also indicative of the United Nations, with the laurel wreath and globe. These cufflinks might have been given to diplomats, military personnel, or important figures involved in the negotiations or visiting the DMZ, making them unique keepsakes not widely available to the general public. Items like these are often produced in limited quantities.
Without specific markings or documentation, it’s difficult to pin down an exact production date. However, based on their design and the historical significance of Panmunjom, these cufflinks were likely produced sometime between the 1950s and the 1980s, with the possibility of later commemorative runs into the 1990s or 2000s for diplomatic purposes.
Item may have minor fading, hazing, or scuffs, from being a used item.
