THESE ARE REALLY COOL / RETRO WITH ALL THE LEATHER
These Vintage never issued / never used Romanian Military Backpacks are made of thick canvas and even thicker leather put togetherwith heavy machine stitching and metal rivets.
They Are Roughly 40 Litres.
INSIDE OF MAIN PACK:Cord ClosureDimensions from seam to seamroughly measure 11 3/4" To 13 3/4" x 15 5/8" x 10 1/4" these packs are wider on the bottom than on the top.The main pack space is covered by a large flap with buckle closure .
EXTERNAL OF BACKPACK FEATURES:The main cover / flap has leather attachment points I am assuming it was used for a mess kit. On the sides you'll find additional attachment points for a bed roll etc. and on the other side of pack there is a pouch for Rations or a Canteen etc..
THE STRAPSMost WW2 German military gear buffs will recognize the carrying system, and for those who are not familiarwith German WWII gear the slim straps with the loops are supposed to be attached to the hooks on the bottom of the pack. The wide straps with the hooks are meant to be anchored on the combat belt kit.If you ever have to ditch your bag in a hurry the heavy leather shoulder straps are deigned to easily slide out of the hooks , but for civilian use The easiest fix / modification is to mash the hooks "closed" so theloopswon't slide out.Another easy fix is to cut off the slim straps at their base and just attach the hooked straps together any way you like.
Due to these being vintage / used backpacks we highly recommend wiping the pack clean with a moist cloth and treating the leather with generous amounts of saddle soap / leather restorer .If there is any vintage long term warehouse smell , that will eventually vanish with use and or by spraying with odor ban , or fabreeze and hanging outside in the fresh air.
