WW1 Shell Carrier with faded Royal Crest / Coat of Arms .
I have always thought of these as Shell Carriers but are in fact Cordite Buckets used by Royal Navy for movement of Cordite Charge for Naval shellsPre WW1 / WW1 and Post WW1
40.5cm tall ( 16 in. approx )7.5 in. across top .19cm approx .
Canvas material with Wood beneath I assumeHard outerOuter painted red - you can make out Royal Crest but unfortunately fadedLeather strap marked RCD 1917 No.59 57 ? 65 by Brasspin.Other end marked with what looks like \'Z\'
Must have been stoond on damp ground - maybe Fireplace ? as base is coming away ( looks like cork.)You may be able to repair or replace base
Upper in good order but Royal Crest faded
