This is a sale for a complete record that ( George william Wherrey) kept during his service in WW2, included is his selective service cards , well over 120 letters (many handwritten some v mail copy's) home from active war areas in Europe, over 370 photographs of what he saw and did during the war, the organization and identifying remarks Gorge left us is like a time capsule of nearly being there with him. 

About 60 of the photos are of his time in camp Bowie and fort hood Texas Gorge was attached to a artillery unit also , photos of his Wedding, and  training including in the field with guns and bazokas  private wherrey was promoted to cpl . Battery C 772 field artillery. His stripes and unit patches ( 2) are included

Along with the well organized letters and photo albums , all placed in three ring binders by date and areas gorge was in , there are newspapers cartoons drawings cards and more even a silk parachute from a German flare. nothing has been removed i thought it best to keep this entire collection complete as it is. although ive only read a few of the clearly written letters he speaks of battles, taking fire, capturing Germans passing bombed out area  just to name a few things .

The pages of the snapshot photo albums are all headed with dates and the places the photos were taken. The photos included but are not limited to camps in the field, guns in action, German prisoners, towns surrendering., wrecked planes, and towns cannons firing. men tanks trucks jeeps dugouts fighting 

From what I peace together wherrey arrived in France in early august 1944

He crossed the seine river he documents this in his album tanks guns ack ack placement blown bridges. He photo'd documents, Wales the seine river landing in France Aug. 1944  st clement France oct 1944 , Burivlle France oct 1944,Migeville Krautville ? chenevers dec 1944 Rehling feb 1945, reyersviller march 1945 , danube and montbronn march 1945 rohbach and brenshelbach april 1945 ,Siegfried line and Zwei Brucken april 1945 wonfurt april Nuremburg and Dachau  near Munich( POWS ) Salzburg / Hitlers Castle Austria  may 1945 Paris France 



I cannot stress the level of origination and identifying remarks and comments made about each photograph, many of the soldiers are fully identified the towns and war equipment  as well, the live fire snapshots photos. serveral of german POWs being marched from the battle fields dachau (photos are too graphic the show here)  tanks planes jeeps machine guns pill boxes foxholes ,on and on the photos go taken in the field as the unit moved 

the pictures of Hitlers castle are unique, one of a French town with white frags coming out all the windows, many photos showing and explaining various uniform the solders wore 



the liberation photos and celebration are very interesting.



there are over 370 photos of which upwards of 350 have some sort of narrative remark. Of who and what is being shown (I was only able to post about 100 of the snapshots in this listing )the letters are all dated and organized and go right along wither the photo albums. 



This is truly a incredible collection of a soldiers march in Europe in the last year of ww 2

which probably belongs in a museum.
