WWII U.S. NAVY M1 STEEL HELMET w/FRONT SEAM & FIXED BALES - COMPLETE:
$495.00

This is a very nice Second World War U.S. Navy M1 steel combat helmet that is in excellent ship used condition. The shell is with a front rim seam and fixed bales which dates its manufacture prior to 1943. The helmet has a blue/gray painted finish over rough cork aggregate with the usual wear around the rim seam. There is a shallow dent at the left front of the shell that has not chipped or affected the paint in any way. This indicates that the dent was in the shell prior to it being overpainted with the blue finish and it being worn that way during the war. The heat temper number under the brim is ‘246B. The light khaki chinstraps have black finished bronze hook and claw hardware at the ends and exhibit some fraying at the bales. The liner is manufactured by Westinghouse and marked with their ‘W’ over the circle logo in the dome. The suspension system webbing is of light khaki canvas and has a nice leather sweatband in place. The original brown leather chinstrap is fitted snugly over the visor of the helmet. The snap-in nap strap is marked ‘W11-QM-009-16874, S.M.C. SMALL’. This helmet is a beautiful looking example as used aboard U.S. naval vessels and PT Boats when at battle stations in combat actions during the Second World War.8882
