WWII U.S. Navy Liberty Ship 72 Swivel Bale M1 Helmet & Westinghouse Liner Set Near Mint Condition

Rare Original Artifact

Wonderful original WWII U.S.N. M1 helmet set – The McCord Radiator and Manufacturing Company produced front seam swivel bale helmet shell has a heat stamp of 845C, dating its production to late 1943/early 1944 being the third lift of steel blanks from the Carnegie Steel Company in that production run.

In addition to the original hand painted "CAPT 72 USN” markings, the helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The Westinghouse liner features non-painted steel A-washers, dating the liner’s production to mid-1942. The liner’s exterior has markings that match the outer steel shell identically. The liner comes complete with an original leather adjustable sweatband and a medium sized nape strap. This helmet also features the leather chin strap made by United Carr, see the pictures.
