WW1 LOT - 70 Letters - 100's Pages , 17 Pictures & War Related Ephemera - NICE!:
$335.0

You are offerding on a VERY Interesting LOT of WW1 related letters and other ephemera. This LOT basically covers a soldiers life from 1917 into 1919. The soldier and the letters start out (1917) coming from Camp Allentown/Camp Crane in Pennsylvania. This camp was a training ground for WW1 ambulance drivers - was the US Army Ambulance Corps. Most of the letters coming from this location and period include the stationary showing the letterhead: "War Work Council - Army and Navy Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA)". Most of the letters are from the soldier to his family. There's a few letters from family to the soldier as well. Going into 1918, the letters are coming from overseas - some from Italy, others from France. Most on YMCA letterhead - and later, on Red Cross and American Expeditionary Forces Knights of Columbus letterhead. Almost all include the original envelopes. Picture 8 shows an interesting piece of cloth that states 'Brought Down Oct. 6, 1918 France' - I'm sure more info on the cloth is in the letter that it's pinned with. There's also 17 pictures, a honorable discharge document and other various pieces of paper. The soldier was also featured in a newspaper clipping - which is in this collection. The letters extend past the end of the war into 1919 per this soldier was still in Europe for some time and back in the U.S. - it appears he is still on active duty even though his discharge papers are dated Dec. 3rd, 1918. I counted about 70 individual letters - most are more than one page (believe one is 7 pages) - so, there's probably around 200 pages or so of WW1 era related correspondence. I didn't read most of the letters - most are to the soldier's parents and are basically discussing what was going on at the camp or asking about family, etc.- I'm assuming some will give more details of the war and what he saw while in Europe. Deciding to sell this as a LOT/Collection per they are all related to one person. Nice collection. This will be mailed with the folder and everything within the plastic sleeves. See pictures. Any questions, please ask. Happy offerding!!
