Yes, that is the black India ink to which I was referring. Your other example is not this black ink, but I believe it is original to the booklet and written some 60 years ago, not an attempted forgery.

Is almost certainly so.
Hoping to start a thread where all Order booklets (Ordenskaya Knizhka) and medal booklets (Udosteverenie K Medali) can be discussed.
Here's mine; part of a Berlin, Warsaw, VoG group I just got. The fella's got 'only' a later-issued BM and CSM to go along with those medals. Not a super-sniper but more likely a later conscript who just did his duty and kicked some butt along the way in possibly 1944 and '45. Any reason to doubt this booklet (or his other items I've listed above and posted elsewhere)? Personally, I don't see anything wrong but I just got them and haven't had a chance to look hard at them.

Eric,
It looks good to me. Marc
Any thoghts on this blank irr. service medals KGB booklet? Fake or unissued original?
If authentic, why it says "KGB USSR" and not "KGB at the Council of Ministers of the USSR"?

The document looks OK to me, not sure about the stamp and the signature. Was Starovoitov ever a KGB Chief?

From what I know, his highest post at the KGB was the communications service commander, but if I am correct in1992 he was the head of the FAPSI and since many of it's employees were former KGB officers it's possible that they used the KGB docs.
But that's just a theory. And it doesnt explain why is the date written there or why is his name typed.also his signature should be printed (I think) and itseems to be smudged in one point, which would suggest a stamp or handwriting. And that seems suspicious, but maybe I am just paranoid.
I personally don't like the appearance of the typewritter addition. I also wonder why such a senior person would permit pre-signed blank documents, even for something as mundane as long-service awards.
Not just pre-signed, but pre-dated too. Doesn't smell right to me... |
