🇷🇸 WWI Serbian Balkan Wars Commemorative Medal 1912 – Original Bronze

This is an original Kingdom of Serbia Commemorative Medal of 1912, awarded to Soldiers and approved civilians who took part in the First Balkan War. The obverse depicts a Serbian field gun beneath a rising sun, accompanied by the date 1912 and the Cyrillic inscription meaning “To the Victors,” a phrase chosen to honor those who contributed to Serbia’s early military successes. The reverse features the traditional Serbian double-headed eagle with national shield, framed by a laurel wreath symbolizing honor, duty, and military achievement.

Instituted following Serbia’s rapid mobilization and decisive victories against Ottoman forces, this medal stands as a significant pre-WWI award and an important artifact from a pivotal moment in Balkan history. Its symbolism reflects national pride during a period that shaped Serbia’s military identity and directly preceded the events leading into the First World War.
