This is a meticulously crafted reproduction of the Soviet NKVD (People\'s Commissariat for Internal Affairs) officer\'s peaked cap, featuring the striking two-tone wool construction that defined Soviet state security headwear. With its vivid royal blue crown, bright red band, and crimson piping — the iconic color combination of the Soviet Internal Affairs service — this cap faithfully recreates the distinctive and authoritative visual identity of Stalin-era NKVD uniform. Perfect for historical collections, uniform displays, reenactment, costume styling, photography, and film productions requiring authentic 1930s-1940s Soviet state security aesthetics.
The NKVD (People\'s Commissariat for Internal Affairs) was the Soviet Union\'s internal security and law enforcement agency, responsible for state security, border troops, prison administration, and various other internal affairs functions. Their distinctive uniform colors — blue crown with red band — set them apart from regular Red Army formations and became one of the most recognizable symbols of Soviet state authority. This peaked cap follows the historical style of the NKVD officer\'s service dress cap from the mid-1930s regulation period, developed from available historical references, period photographs, and surviving original examples.
The cap is constructed from premium wool felt in two contrasting colors: a rich royal blue crown representing the Internal Affairs service, and a vibrant scarlet-red wool band. A narrow crimson-red piping runs along the upper edge of the crown, completing the classic NKVD color scheme. The front is adorned with a red enamel five-pointed star cap badge featuring the gold hammer and sickle emblem at its center, set within a gilt brass border — the standard Soviet military and state security insignia of the era.
Structurally, the cap features a rigid black patent leather visor with characteristic stitching along the edge, and a matching black patent leather chin strap secured on both sides by gilt brass side buttons, each embossed with a five-pointed star emblem. The crown maintains its classic rounded-peaked silhouette through careful tailoring and internal support structure. All proportions, color combinations, piping placement, and hardware details have been carefully researched to match the historical NKVD specification.
