📌 DESCRIPTION
This 4-320th Field Artillery Regiment “Guns of Glory” challenge coin captures a highly specific Afghanistan deployment, command-team identity, and the Currahee lineage of the 101st Airborne Division’s 4th Brigade Combat Team. Marked Task Force Glory, OEF 07-09, and Team Khost, it represents a defined period in the battalion’s Global War on Terror service and carries considerably more unit-specific detail than a general formation coin.
The black obverse displays the GUNS OF GLORY title above a prominent artillery projectile and the 320th Field Artillery Regiment crest, incorporating the regiment’s VOLENS ET POTENS motto, “Willing and Able.” Raised artillery pieces frame the central insignia, while 4-320th Field Artillery, Task Force Glory, and Currahee Fires complete the battalion-specific design.
The red reverse is dominated by FOR COMBAT EXCELLENCE and the command-team names LTC Ell and CSM Wilburn. A map of Afghanistan marked Team Khost, the 101st Airborne Division eagle, Airborne imagery, Currahee insignia, and OEF 07-09 connect the design directly to the deployment. The perimeter carries campaign references including St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, Lorraine 1918, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, Central Europe, Panama, Iraq, and Afghanistan, tying the modern Task Force Glory design to the regiment’s broader combat lineage.
The battalion was later inactivated in 2014, adding historical interest to this command-team and deployment-specific example for collectors focused on 101st Airborne, Field Artillery, Currahee, and Afghanistan material.
