Item Description

Large 150+ USSR Soviet Aviation Aeroflot Aircraft Pin Badge Medal large vintage collection of Soviet / USSR aviation-related badges, pins, medals and insignia, assembled and displayed together on a green felt-covered board.

The collection appears to date primarily from the Soviet era and is heavily focused on aviation and Aeroflot, with numerous colorful enamel and metal badges depicting individual Soviet aircraft, airlines, aviation organizations, anniversaries and achievements.

Included are numerous Aeroflot / Soviet Airlines aircraft badges representing various airplanes and helicopters, along with military aviation, Soviet Air Force, airborne/parachute, veteran, anniversary and commemorative insignia. Aircraft represented appear to include various Tupolev, Ilyushin, Antonov, Yakovlev and other Soviet designs.

Also included are several larger medal-type pieces with ribbons, veteran and anniversary badges, aviation wings and other Soviet-era insignia.

IMPORTANT: This is a mixed collection. Not every piece is an official military decoration. Many of the smaller colorful pieces are Soviet commemorative, souvenir, aviation or organizational pin badges commonly known as znachki. Some pieces appear military-related, while others relate to civilian aviation/Aeroflot.

There appear to be well over 150 individual pieces. Please use the photographs as the definitive guide to exactly what is included.

The badges and medals have been loosely mounted/pinned to a green felt-covered Styrofoam display board measuring approximately:

25” wide x 14” high x 1.5” thick

Condition varies by piece with age-appropriate surface wear, tarnish, oxidation, enamel wear, scratches and other signs of age and use. Overall, the collection displays very nicely. I have not removed or individually examined every badge, so maker marks, attachment types and exact dates on the reverses are unknown.

The pieces will be sold as one collection exactly as pictured.

A particularly interesting group for collectors of Soviet aviation, Aeroflot, Cold War memorabilia, aircraft history, USSR badges and military/aviation insignia.

Please examine all photographs carefully for individual designs and condition.

I think this is a considerably better listing

One thing I especially like about your collection is that you have groups/series of aircraft badges rather than just a random assortment. In the lower left, for example, there’s a substantial run of the blue/green Aeroflot aircraft-series badges. Smithsonian examples confirm that these were commemorative aviation pins rather than military medals.

You also have quite a few larger and more elaborate badges scattered throughout the board, plus the ribbon medals at the top. So I would not break this collection up yet without investigating those individually.

Current asking prices illustrate why: ordinary groups of ten Soviet aviation/Aeroflot badges are commonly offered around $40–$50, while particular Aeroflot pieces and sets can be considerably higher.

From the photographs, I think “150+” is safe, although visually I suspect you’re actually somewhere around 180–200 pieces. I wouldn’t put the higher number in the title until we’ve counted them.
