Naval Mouth Tap French Tape de Bouche Bronze Plaque Champlain Shield Lion Crest For Sale

(#1412) Bronze plaque from the United Founders in France with a roundbronze on a wood base. The bronze features a shield in the center with a lion, representing courage and nobility, and 3 fleur de lis, symbols of the French monarchy and national identity. There is a sprawling fortress above the shield, a leaf on either side and CHAMPLAIN underneath.
The round plaque measures 7-3/4 inches in diameter.On the back there is an inset hole for hanging along with a paper/foil label that says "Aux Fondeurs Reunis" and translates literally to "to the founders united". It also has what looks like an address and phone number.The bronze is flawless and the wood is a rich golden brown.It is one of a few I purchased together at an estate sale recently.
