Item Description

The Order of Maternal Glory (Russian: Орден «Материнская слава») was established on July 8, 1944, by Joseph Stalin. It was created to recognize mothers who bore and raised multiple children, reflecting the Soviet Union's emphasis on increasing the population after the devastating effects of World War II. The award was divided into three classes based on the number of children raised:

First Class: Awarded to mothers who raised nine children.

Second Class: Awarded to mothers who raised eight children.

Third Class: Awarded to mothers who raised seven children.

The award was conferred upon the first birthday of the last child, provided that the other children were alive. Children who died under heroic circumstances were also counted towards the total.

These medals were discontinued after the collapse of the USSR.

Each medal has a unique serial number on back.

EACH OF MINE HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPER WRAPPING. I ALSO HAVE THE OTHER MEDALS AND MORE Soviet military medals. Please ask.
