This early RSFSR militia command‑staff badge was introduced following Order No. 37 of the Central Administrative Directorate of the NKVD on 3 June 1926, which established the first standardized insignia for militia commanders. Produced in tombac with red enamel and marked “РСФСР,” it reflects the transitional period when the militia operated under republic level authority before later all union restructuring. The badge identified command level status within the newly regulated internal security system of the late 1920s.
