HIGH QUALITY REPLICA of theSoviet Badge “Ultimatum” issued in 1923 by the Soviet ODVF (“Society of Friendsof Air Fleet”) Organization.
The badge was made in responseto the \"Curzon Ultimatum\" – an official UK government note penned inearly May 1923 by Lord Curzon and delivered to the Soviet Commissariat forForeign Affairs. The note threatened to terminate any trade agreements withRussia if the Soviets do not seize fomenting rebellion in British-controlledparts of Asia as well as harassment of British fishing vessels in internationalwaters near the Soviet shores. In the USSR, the “ultimatum” was met with(faked) indignation and used as a propaganda tool. One of the manifestations of“righteous anger” with the Brits and the West in general was collecting fundsto build Soviet aviation to repel “military intervention” (in the end, Sovietgovernment quietly complied with all demands of the British note.) The pin“Ultimatum” was given to those who had donated to build airplanes.
The 1923 originals of thisbadge are quite scarce and expensive, so the exact, authentic-looking copy weare offering here can be a nice filler in the collector’s display - or just afun “conversation piece” to pin on lapel. Just like the original, the badge isin tin with bronze finish, and has a correct pin attachment. The badge measuresabout 39.5 mm wide, same size as the original.
