Madein Brass and high quality Hot-Baked Enamels; measures 40.0 x 26.6 mm. A veryattractive and well-made piece of typical Soviet quality of the period. TheExcellent Traffic Controller was one of several badges of the so-called railwayproficiency series. These badges were introduced during the war, in 1942 andwere essentially medals for outstanding performance, often under enemy fire.They were hard to earn and their recipients would have various privileges forlife!
Thebadge is in ABSOLUTELY SUPERB CONDITION, especially for a WW2 era award! Theenamel is extremely well preserved, free of any of the usual chips, hairlinecracks, flaking, scratches or rubbing. There are only a few microscopiccontact marks that are unnoticeable to the naked eye and are hard to find evenwith a 10x loupe. The enamel fully retains its beautiful luster. All theenamel on this piece is 100% ORIGINAL: there are no enamel repairs. Raiseddetails of the artwork are perfect and crisp. The screw post is original, offull length (approx. 9.5 mm) and has not been repaired. The screw plate is areplacement but it fits the screw perfectly.
Thisinteresting and uncommon Soviet award can be an equally nice addition to eithera Russian medal collection or railroad memorabilia collection.
