Early United States military campaign ribbons from the Revolution to the Mexican War, 8 different, in 1 3/8 inch standard service ribbon size. The Civil War was the earliest campaign for which a medal was awarded with a 1 3/8 inch service ribbon. Prior campaigns were recognized with battle streamer ribbon which is 2 3/4 inches wide. This difference in size made the compact display of military campaigns difficult. We have had the early campaign ribbons manufactured in the standard 1 3/8 inch size, so all campaigns may be displayed on standard ribbon mounts. We did not make the Navy Latin American Campaign ribbon, since all the campaigns represented by it have individual ribbon bars (Haitian, Dominican, Nicaraguan, etc.)
