This is a US Air Force Senior Pilot wings patch, stitched in gold on a red background.
The Air Force awards pilot wings in three degrees: Pilot, Senior Pilot and Command Pilot. A star above the shield marks the senior degree, and a wreath around the star marks Command Pilot. Senior Pilot calls for seven years as a rated pilot plus 2,000 total flying hours or 1,300 hours of primary and instructor time. A star over a shield between two wings first marked the Senior Aviator back in World War I.
It measures 4.25 by 2.38 inches with a merrowed edge and sew-on backing.
Sew it on a flight jacket or give it to a pilot friend at a promotion or retirement.
