Original antique military photograph dating approximately to c. 1913–1917, showing four decorated soldiers of the Imperial Russian Army.
The men are photographed wearing winter military uniforms and traditional fur papakha hats. Their equipment includes sabers / shashkas, leather cross-belts, holsters and other period military field equipment.
Uniform and equipment details suggest that the men may have served with an artillery unit, possibly horse or Cossack artillery.
Particularly interesting are the numerous Imperial Russian medals and decorations worn by several of the soldiers.
The standing soldier in the center appears to wear the 300th Anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty Medal (1613–1913), bearing the portraits of Tsar Mikhail Feodorovich Romanov and Emperor Nicholas II.
The seated soldier at left wears several decorations. One appears to be suspended from a ribbon with a distinctive bow, possibly indicating a St. George Medal of the 1st or 3rd Class, although the exact award cannot be conclusively identified from the photograph.
The photograph contains numerous interesting details of Imperial Russian military equipment, including shashka sabers, holsters, belts, winter uniforms and military decorations.
