FOR SALESoviet Russian Badges For Service in Caucasus and For Service in TadjikistanThe "For Service in the Caucasus" badge is a departmental award of the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation. It is believed to have been established by Order No. 91 of the Director of the Federal Border Service dated February 19, 1995, but there are known instances of awarding the badge before that date. It's possible this order simply legitimized as a departmental award a badge already being awarded, so to speak, tacitly, on behalf of the command of the Caucasus Special Border District. The badge was awarded to military personnel and civilian employees of the Russian Border Troops serving in the North Caucasus . The award was issued based on orders from the Director of the FPS on behalf of the commanders of the border districts (although, based on the badge's name and the nature of the order, only one of the commanders was authorized to award it). From 1992 to 1995 , the badge was virtually the only official award available to participants in combat operations in the region. Therefore, it was often awarded not only to border guards but also to personnel from other agencies. Moreover, due to its informal status, this award was and remains highly valued, practically on par with the Medal "For Courage ," as the award of this badge testified to the recipient's direct participation in combat operations during their most difficult period—before the summer of 1996. Formally, the badge remains part of the awards system of the FSB of the Russian Federation, but its awarding has now ceased, with a total of approximately two thousand awards. The "For Service in Tajikistan" badge is a departmental award of the Federal Border Service of Russia (now the Border Service of the FSB), awarded to border guards who served in the Republic of Tajikistan, often in the 1990s.. The sign is usually made of metal in the shape of a shield or diamond, contains symbols of mountains, a border post and sometimes the flag of the Russian Federation..Please let me know if you have any questions.
